Introducing our New Men's Div 1 Head Coach

October 15th, 2015 - submitted by the black angels

Following appointment of Grantley Bernard as head coach, the Melbourne University Black Angels will be holding player try outs for the mens Division 1 team on November 2nd, 5th, 9th & 12th at the Melbourne University sports center.

Melbourne University Basketball Club is pleased to announce Grantley's appointment. Grantley comes from an extensive basketball background; in 2010, he coached Geelong's Big V Championship women to the premiership and was also appointed coach of the year. Grantley has also covered the game extensively as an NBL journalist for the Australian and Herald Sun.

Following our mens Big V championships in 2004, 2009 and 2010 (Premier division, Division 2 and Division 1) and second place finishes in 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2008, the  program is looking forward to fully supporting Grantley in the ongoing pursuit of further success.

Being the largest adult club in Australia with a big representation of male and female members from our university community and based centrally in Carlton, MUBC places a great emphasis on nurturing high level basketball players in a socially engaging and active environment:
